日本は今、多文化共生社会へと向かっています。日本語を母語とする人たちと、日本語を母語としない人たちが、ともに協働し、豊かな社会の実現を目指しています。今や日本語は、重要なコミュニケーション・ツールとなり、国内外のさまざまな場面で、日本語のできる優秀な人材が求められています。
ＯＬＪ Language Academyは、時代の要請に応えるべく、1985年4月に開校し、これまで幾多の優秀な卒業生を輩出してきました。卒業生は、日本国内外のさまざまな機関で、時代をリードしながら活躍しています。
また2011年には、より充実した学習環境を実現するために、現在の渋谷の地に移転し、優れた学習環境と優秀な教師陣、きめ細かな学習指導とカリキュラムで、多様な学習者が集う日本語学校としての評価を得ています。ＯＬＪは、皆さんの日本語学習を応援しています。

現在：京都外国語大学外国語学部日本語学科教授
専門：日本語教育、日本語教員養成
主な編著書：『日本語教授法』（とうほう）
『秘伝 日本語教育実習 プロの技』（凡人社）
『日本語能力試験級別的中問題集』１級～4級（時事日本語社）
『日本語能力考試模擬試題集』Ｎ1～Ｎ３（上海教育出版社）など多数

| 1985 | 4 | OLJ Language Academy founded by our president, Ms. Yasuyo Oyama, in Aoyama, Tokyo as a school approved by the Japanese Immigration Bureau to accept students studying in Japan on student visas. |
| 1989 | 5 | After four years of development, completed the first edition of our own textbook, “Terry & Mai”. |
| 1990 | 4 | Became a founding member of the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education, which superseded the Immigration Bureau as the organization responsible for the accreditation of schools eligible to accept students studying in Japan on student visas. |
| 1991 | 7 | Graduated our 1000th student |
| 1995 | 4 | Relocated to 2-1-13 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku Tokyo to accommodate an increasing number of students. |
| 1997 | 3 | Graduated our 1500th student |
| 4 | Doubled the size of our teaching facility, adding classrooms for the purpose of maintaining small class sizes. | |
| 2000 | 3 | Graduated our 2000th student. |
| 4 | Responding to an increasing number of requests, began accepting students from Korea and China. | |
